FACT is looking for a seasoned Application Security Architect to join a banking client in Sandton. You will secure mobile banking apps, APIs, cloud platforms and DevSecOps pipelines. This is an on-site role for someone with 10+ years in application security or security architecture who enjoys solving complex security challenges at scale.
About the role
FACT is hiring an Application Security Architect to lead application security architecture for a major banking client based in Sandton. This is a fixed term, full time, on-site role where you will work on securing mobile banking platforms, APIs, cloud environments and modern software delivery pipelines.
You will be part of a team that integrates security into every stage of the software development lifecycle. The work is hands on and strategic, involving security architecture, risk mitigation, secure authentication and API security. You will also assess emerging technologies such as AI and agentic systems for security vulnerabilities.
The successful candidate will collaborate with software engineering, architecture and cybersecurity teams to ensure secure solution delivery across complex technology environments. Travel may be required.
Requirements
- 10+ years of relevant experience in application development, application security or security architecture
- Proven experience in application security architecture and secure software design
- Strong technical knowledge of application programming and secure software development

Responsibilities
- Define and oversee application security controls for mobile applications, APIs and identity management
- Integrate security into cloud platforms, DevSecOps pipelines and software development processes
- Identify application security risks and develop effective mitigation strategies
- Drive secure authentication, authorisation and API security practices
- Assess emerging technologies, including AI and agentic systems, to identify and address security vulnerabilities
- Collaborate with software engineering, architecture and cybersecurity teams to ensure secure solution delivery
