About the role
SASSO Consulting is looking for 5 experienced Application and Data Security Specialists to join an enterprise IT environment in Centurion, Gauteng. This is a permanent, full time opportunity where you will play a key role in keeping applications and sensitive data safe from threats.
What you will be doing:
- Conducting application security assessments and vulnerability testing
- Identifying, investigating and fixing application security risks
- Running SAST, DAST and software composition analysis
- Implementing security controls for web apps, APIs and databases
- Supporting secure software development and DevSecOps practices
- Setting up encryption, data masking and access control measures
- Assessing authentication, authorisation and security configurations
- Working with developers and cybersecurity teams on fixes
- Helping with data protection, compliance and incident investigations
- Keeping security reports and technical documentation up to date
Requirements
- A relevant IT, Computer Science or Cybersecurity diploma or degree
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant application or data security experience
- Proven hands on experience in application vulnerability assessments and remediation
- Strong knowledge of OWASP Top 10 and secure coding principles
- Experience with SAST, DAST, Burp Suite, OWASP ZAP, Checkmarx, Fortify or similar tools
- Understanding of encryption, API security, authentication and access management
- Experience with Azure, AWS or enterprise cloud security environments
- Knowledge of ISO 27001, NIST and POPIA
- DevSecOps and secure CI/CD pipeline experience is advantageous
- Security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, CASE, GWAPT or Security+ are advantageous
