Accountant for Growing Technical Services Business in Midrand

Overview
A new in-house Accountant role has opened up with a growing technical installations and ICT business in Midrand. You will work closely with the Finance Manager to run the day to day accounting function, improve controls, and prepare management accounts. This hybrid role offers R35,000 CTC per month and a real chance to grow with the business.
About the role
Our client, a well established business in technical installations, ICT, and project based services, is hiring an Accountant for a newly created in house position. You will report directly to the Finance and Administration Manager and take ownership of the day to day accounting function.
What you will be doing:
- Managing accounting records, general ledger, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Running month end processes and preparing management accounts and reporting packs
- Maintaining fixed asset registers, accruals, and prepayments
- Overseeing debtors, creditors, supplier reconciliations, and payment schedules
- Preparing cash flow forecasts and working capital reports
- Supporting budgeting, cost tracking, and variance analysis
- Handling tax reconciliations and statutory submissions including VAT
- Assisting with year end financial statements and audit readiness
- Improving accounting processes and identifying automation opportunities
The role is hybrid, with a minimum of three days per week in the Midrand office. You will join a collaborative environment with direct exposure to finance leadership and room to grow as the business develops.
Requirements
- A relevant degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Approximately 3 to 5 years of accounting experience, including full accounting records to trial balance and monthly management accounts
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards and the ability to apply them practically
- Practical experience with VAT, statutory compliance, reconciliations, debtors, and creditors
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting systems such as Sage, Pastel, Xero, QuickBooks, or Business Central
- Completed or in progress SAIPA articles would be advantageous
- A professional qualification such as SAIPA, CIMA, ACCA, or AGA(SA) would strengthen your application
- Experience in an SME, construction, engineering, mining, ICT integration, or project based business is advantageous
- Project costing and project revenue recognition experience is beneficial but training can be provided
